Project CatLine40P

High-speed catamaran for passengers

The catamaran is designed from light alloy to carry up to 430 passengers on regular lines in the coastal zone of the seas.

The concept of a passenger catamaran is to maintain a constant motion high speed regardless of the state of the water surface (wind, waves). This allows you to ensure regular voyages, exact adherence to the timetable.

In comparison with planing vessels and hydrofoil vessels (HFV), the catamaran has a very soft move with sea waves 3-4 points. The wave-piercing contours of the hulls, the high side height in the bow ensure good seaworthiness. A special shape of the bridge (large pitching) in the bow is designed to damp shock wave loads. The hull together with the superstructure is a single beam with high strength and rigidity, which is very important for a high-speed vessel.

Thus, a catamaran can maintain a preassigned speed in weather conditions when planing passenger vesels and hydrofoil vessels (HFV) are forced to reduce it, including due to severe discomfort for passengers.

The vessel moves in pre-planing mode. Two waterjet plants are used as propulsors. They are equipped with reversible nozzles, which provides reverse movement and have the ability to deflect the jet stream, which allows you to control the vessel in the course.

Advantages of waterjets: lack of cavitation at high speed, lack of steering gear, simplicity and compactness of the entire propulsion system, resistance to damage from objects floating in the water, less draft.

Exteriors

The vessel has two passenger decks. The main deck is an economy class saloon for 248 passengers, two bathrooms, luggage boxes, a pantry, a cabin for staff. In addition, another 38 passengers can be accommodated in the stern on the open deck.

If necessary, the aft part of deck can be protected by removable sunshades.

Upper deck - first-class saloon for 144 passengers, two bathrooms, a bar, an open deck saloon in the stern. Both decks have balconies on the starboard and port side. Decks are connected to each other by two internal stairs in the bow and stern.

Wheelhouse moved forward to improve visibility. The crew of 4-6 people is accommodated in three double cabins. There is also a crew cabin, a place for heating food.

Anchor and mooring devices are located on the bow and stern parts of the deck. The catamaran is equipped with the necessary means of communication and navigation, as well as rescue equipment for the number of passengers and crew on board.

Boarding and disembarking of passengers takes place by means of four (two on each side) hydraulic lifting ladders.
